quarries where he often spent months seeking perfect pieces claiming he could visualize figures
emerging therefrom! Romans carved their figures using Carrara hills too & more recently artists
like Henry Moore/Botero sought their marbles here too! Lunch awaits traditional trattoria located
within Colonnata village famous for producing ‘lardo’ spiced/aged inside marble vats bearing no
comparison whatsoever against English translation ‘lard’; quite delicious when thinly sliced served
alongside local bread! Post-lunch exploration leads into Pietrasanta village still home today
amongst famous sculptors!
