The Bargello Museum

One of Florence's unmissable sights, Bargello is to sculpture what Uffizi is to fine art. You will see
Donatello’s David—a delicate contrast to Michelangelo’s powerful figure—as well as
Michelangelo’s wonderful Bacchus and works by Cellini and Giambologna. The building itself is
fascinating too; dating from the 13th century, it has served many functions throughout its long
history—from headquarters for Capitan del Popolo to Podesta—and became Bargello or head
police spies headquarters in the 16th century before becoming a museum.
